Listening

is a

design skill

01

Listening is how I make sense of complexity. It’s the quiet part of the process where direction is shaped long before decisions are made. I listen — to users describing friction they can’t name, to engineers explaining constraints, to PMs thinking aloud about outcomes, goals, trade-offs, to my team for feedback because critique is collaboration. Patterns emerge when people feel heard. Clarity follows.
Listening builds alignment, and alignment builds good products.

In-practice

Eightfold collaborative requisition designs

Every major pivot during my major project at Eightfold came from listening. Each time I absorbed new input, the project shifted closer to the real goal instead of the assumed one.
